waiting with bated breath as the marauding murky night marches on
winking only with one eye men filled with weariness watch for the morning
frightened restless and spent as the somber night harbinger of infirmity dissipates her fury
your night need not rape the morning
night need not dance in daylight
though sullen gloomy and determined
the night can not hedge the morning in her prison of time
like the butterfly emerging from her cocoon night steps back for the day
as a newly hatched chick crawling from her shell
day emerges from the womb of the night
gingerly feeble but strengthened in the brilliance of the sun
am grateful for the mint fresh fragrance of a new dawn
to the chirping and twittering of care free birds
am thankful for the morning
